Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award (Newry/Banbridge)

17 May, 2007

Maud McAuley, a member of the Newry & Banbridge Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s leading epilepsy charity.

The Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award will be presented to the Newry & Banbridge secretary, Maud, in a ceremony held at the branch meeting on Thursday, May 31 2007 at 7.30 pm at the Ballybot Centre, Cornmarket, Newry.

Morina Clarke, Epilepsy Action’s regional services manager for Northern Ireland, said: “Congratulations and well done to Maud for her work as secretary in Newry & Banbridge branch. Maud is a committed volunteer and combines her volunteering work with her part-time job. She attends all branch meetings and offers support to chairperson, Mary McConnell and treasurer, Stacia Byrne.”

Maud is delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious award and said: “I was both surprised and delighted at being nominated for the award. I enjoy being a member of Newry & Banbridge branch, which helps people with epilepsy meet others and get involved in raising awareness of the condition in the Newry & Mourne area."

The ceremony is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy. There will be opportunities to join the branch as a member and to access detailed information about living with epilepsy. Existing members will provide information about branch activities, and how to get involved in raising epilepsy awareness in the area.
