Epilepsy charity strikes it loch-y thanks to Forfar mum

26 July, 2010

A Forfar mum, whose son has epilepsy, has organised a sponsored children’s walk to raise funds for UK charity Epilepsy Action.

Careen Mullen has arranged the walk at Forfar Loch on Saturday 14 August to help raise awareness of epilepsy.  Careen’s son, Kieran Flood, 16, has epilepsy as well as two of her cousins.  The walkers will be made up of Careen, Kieran and Careen’s five nieces and nephews, all aged between seven and 14. They will walk three times around the loch, clocking up a total distance of seven and a half miles. A further two children, both aged five, will be collecting donations on the day.

Careen said:  “My nieces and nephews – who call themselves “The Jazzy Wazzies” – will be walking around Forfar Loch to help raise awareness of epilepsy and raise money for Epilepsy Action.  The children are really looking forward to the day and have worked extremely hard during training. Their commitment and enthusiasm to support the charity and members of their own family has been truly inspiring. We are all very proud of them. We have had loads of laughs during training and I’m sure it will be a great day for everyone.”
