Get your running shoes on for Epilepsy Action

4 March, 2008

The UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation is urging people to raise funds for them by taking part in the spectacular 10K BUPA Great Edinburgh Run.

The event, which takes place on Sunday 4 May, takes runners past some of the city’s most iconic sites, including Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, The Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament building.

In a change to previous years the course will take participants down the Mound, giving runners ample time to admire the fantastic views of Edinburgh’s historic New Town, the Firth of Firth and beyond to the Kingdom of Fife.

Epilepsy Action has guaranteed places available for this year’s event, but they are limited.

Paul Tranter, Epilepsy Action’s fundraising manager, said: “This is a great event to take part in. All we ask you to do is raise a minimum sponsorship of £275 and pay a £26 registration fee for your place. For this you will receive a guaranteed place and a free Epilepsy Action running vest.”

The money raised will go towards funding Epilepsy Action’s vital work. Last year the charity directly helped over 731,000 people through its range of services, including an Epilepsy Helpline, freephone 0808 800 5050, online community, branch network and Accredited Volunteer scheme.
