Memory workshop in Cardiff to help those with epilepsy

3 October, 2011

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting five new memory workshops around the UK to support to people with epilepsy. Leading Professor Gus Baker, Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at Liverpool University, will be speaking at the event.

The fourth workshop will take place on Saturday 15 October at The Angel Hotel, Castle Street, Cardiff, from 10.00am to 2.30pm. The role of the memory workshop is to make people aware of the memory problems people with epilepsy have. It will also help people to identify their problems and provide techniques to help.

Ann Sivapatham, Epilepsy Action’s Wales Manager, said “The sessions are aimed at people with epilepsy and their families. There is no lower age limit but the workshop is aimed more at adolescents and adults. Field workers and nurses would also be welcome. If you experience difficulties with memory because of your epilepsy, this workshop is to help you to understand them. There will be a series of exercises to help you understand and learn to manage your memory problems.  We are organising five throughout the UK and places are limited so early booking is essential.”

Tickets cost £19.00 for delegates (£10.00 concessions), £12 for a Epilepsy Action members (or £8.00 member concessions). Seats are limited so to book a place, or for further information, please contact Jackie Kemp on 0113 210 8787, or email jkemp@epilepsy.org.uk
