The Mid Ulster Branch of national charity, Epilepsy Action, is preparing to put the kettle on for the charity's annual National Tea Break. The branch will host a tea break at the British Legion Hall, Cookstown, from 10.30 am on Saturday 24 October.
Tea and cake will be served by branch members in return for a donation. All money raised will help to support Epilepsy Action's work in the local area and Northern Ireland as a whole. The branch is also hoping to raise awareness of epilepsy and highlight the help available for people with epilepsy in the Mid Ulster area. The event has been organised as part of Epilepsy Action’s seventh National Tea Break. National Tea Break aims to raise vital funds to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.
Hundreds of people from all over the UK will take part in the annual event. Since 2003, 800 Tea Breaks have taken place, raising an impressive £88,000 to help fund the vital information and advice services provided by Epilepsy Action. This year the charity hopes to make National Tea Break the biggest yet and break the £100,000 barrier.
Epilepsy Action has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. Branches hold regular meetings and offer a variety of social events and informative talks and discussions relating to epilepsy. Meetings offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with epilepsy and also raise awareness of the condition in the local community.
The Mid Ulster Branch of Epilepsy Action meets on the third Wednesday of each month at Gortaloway House, Church Street, Cookstown.
