Never Too Young For A Charity Challenge

15 October, 2008

A four-year-old from Cymau in Wrexham has raised an impressive £85 for charity by taking part in the Mini Great North Run on Saturday October 4.

Frankie Shallcross bravely competed in the 1.5km event to raise vital funds for national charity, Epilepsy Action, helping support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Amazingly, the youngster’s challenge doesn’t end there – she’ll also be running the Mini Great South Run taking place in Portsmouth on Saturday October 25. Frankie’s dad will be running the adult version of the run and this is the first year she’ll be joining him in his efforts.

Frankie’s mum, Karen Shallcross, said; “Frankie was diagnosed with epilepsy in July and Epilepsy Action has been a great help to us since, so we wanted to give something back. We are also trying to raise awareness of the condition, as we’ve found that people generally know very little about it.”
