A Strabane veterinary practice has presented a cheque for £400 to the Omagh Branch of UK charity Epilepsy Action.
The staff at Parkview Veterinary Clinic raised the money by hosting a dog show at the practice. The cheque was presented to Coleen Keys, Anne Doherty and LeeAnn Taggart from the Omagh Branch of Epilepsy Action. The money will go to support people across Omagh and Strabane who have been affected by epilepsy.
Morina Clarke, regional services manager for Northern Ireland at Epilepsy Action, said: “We’re delighted that Parkview Veterinary Clinic has given us this very generous donation. The money will help support the 13,000 people with epilepsy in Northern Ireland.
“The Omagh Branch of Epilepsy Action has been running since March and has already been very active in raising awareness of epilepsy in the area. The branch supports people affected by the condition at its monthly meetings, to which anyone is welcome. Branch members have arranged a planned programme of activities including visiting speakers, fundraising events and social outings for members.”
The Omagh Branch of Epilepsy Action meets at 7.30 pm on the first Monday of each month at Omagh Community House, Drumragh Avenue. For more information, contact Morina Clarke, regional services manager for Northern Ireland, at mclarke@epilepsy.org.uk
Epilepsy Action has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK which are run by volunteers. Most hold regular meetings and offer a mixture of social events and informative talks and discussions.
The meetings offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with epilepsy and also raise awareness of the condition in the local community.
