Wales Conference On Epilepsy

The Cardiff branch of Epilepsy Action will be holding a conference on Saturday October 18 with a view to supporting people affected by epilepsy in the area.

The event, themed “Epilepsy the Options”, will take place at the Holiday Inn on Castle Street, Cardiff and will run from 9.30am to 4.00pm. There will be informative talks from epilepsy specialists covering a range of topics related to the condition.

Guest speakers will include Dr Khalid Hamandi MBBS, MRCP, BSc, PhD a highly qualified consultant neurologist at the University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital, and GP Dr Huw Lloyd, who will be talking about epilepsy and depression. Also speaking will be Honorary Professor Phil Smith MD FRCP, consultant neurologist at the University Hospital of Wales whose research interests include teenagers with epilepsy.

Ann Reynolds, regional services manager for Wales, said: “I am pleased to have such eminent speakers at our third national conference in Wales. The conference is targeted at anyone with an interest in epilepsy and topics will include emergency seizure management, managing epilepsy in primary care, and epilepsy in women.”
