“Epilepsy The Options” In Southampton

5 September, 2008

Epilepsy Action is to hold an information packed seminar on Saturday September 13 with a view to supporting people affected by epilepsy in the area.

The seminar will run from 1.00pm – 4.30pm in The Lecture Theatre at Southampton Guildhall, West Marlands Road. “Epilepsy the Options” is open to everyone with an interest in epilepsy and is aimed at providing those affected by the condition with up-to-date advice and information.

The event will feature a number of talks covering a wide range of epilepsy-related topics, including the life experience of people living with epilepsy and developing understanding of the condition within the community. Speakers will include epilepsy specialist nurse Kim Morley and Epilepsy Action accredited volunteer, Steve McCarthy. Lucy Kinton, consultant neurologist at Basingstoke and Southampton Hospitals, will be giving a presentation entitled, “Options for managing epilepsy”.

Mark McDaid, regional services manager for South West England, says: “We are hoping the event will be a starting point for developing new Epilepsy Action branches in the area. It would be fantastic if people in Hampshire and the surrounding areas could come together to provide a support network for all those people living with the condition in the region.”
