Canterbury college wins national doodling award

16 June, 2011

Staff and students at Canterbury College have beaten off competition from 220 other schools and colleges to be crowned category winners of National Doodle Day 2011.

Students were encouraged to draw a doodle and submit it into the annual National Doodle Day competition. The competition gives schools and colleges the chance to win vouchers to spend on equipment and resources while also raising money for national charity Epilepsy Action.

Canterbury College’s winning doodle was completed design student Charles Robinson.  The college has been awarded with a £150 voucher to spend on equipment and resources.  The winning doodle is also displayed in the Doodle Hall of Fame on the National Doodle Day website.

Liz Wellstead, advanced practitioner and course tutor at Canterbury College, said: “We are delighted to win this award and be a part of National Doodle Day. The competition is a great way for students to express themselves creatively, while also helping a great cause.”

Philippa Cartwright, fundraising events manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “We’d like to pass on our congratulations and thanks to the staff and students at Canterbury College. This year’s National Doodle Day has raised almost £19,000 to help support the 456,000 people with epilepsy in the UK. We’re very grateful to Canterbury College for helping us reach this fantastic figure.”

National Doodle Day 2012 will be held on Friday 2 March. For more information, visit www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk
