Epilepsy conference in Brighton

2 April, 2007

A one-day conference on epilepsy, aimed at anyone with an interest in the condition, will take place in Brighton on April 21 2007.

The event is being organised by the UK’s leading member-led epilepsy charity, Epilepsy Action, and will take place from 10.00am until 3.35pm at the Holiday Inn, on Brighton seafront.

The theme of the conference is Epilepsy and You and it is being part funded by a Brighton & Hove City Council grant.

A wide range of epilepsy experts will be taking part including Dr Romi Saha, consultant neurologist who will be discussing the latest developments in epilepsy care; Dr John Trounce, paediatrician talking about epilepsy and children; Emma Williams, founder of ‘Matthew’s Friends’ charity talking about the organisation and the ketogenic diet; and Ian Munroe, advisor development coordinator for people with health conditions and disabilities, Job Centre Plus Brighton, discussing epilepsy and employment.

Susan Mistry, Epilepsy Action’s regional services manager for the South East, said:

“It’s a great opportunity to hear from and meet epilepsy experts from all over the UK with time allotted at the end to put your questions forward to them.”

The price of the conference tickets are £10.00 for members of Epilepsy Action; £12.00 for non members; £6.50 for concessionary rate, people who are in full time education, in receipt of benefits or on a state pension. Membership of Epilepsy Action can be purchased along with entrance to the conference for a special price of £27.00; or a concessionary membership of Epilepsy Action including concessionary conference fee of £17.50
