Professionals speak at epilepsy seminar in Harlow

1 October, 2009

Epilepsy Action's Essex Forum is holding a seminar on Saturday 10 October, to help support people living with epilepsy in the region.

The 'epilepsy and lifestyle' seminar will take place in the Boardroom at The Princess Alexandra Hospital from 1.45pm to 5.00pm. The event is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.  Guest speakers include Dr Susan Rogers-Weedon, associate specialist neurologist at Harlow, Epping and St. Bartholomew's hospitals, and Gillian McCluskey, who has a seizure alert dog, Harvey.

Marie Edgar, regional services manager for the south east, said: “This seminar will give the people of Harlow the opportunity to find out more about epilepsy. People with epilepsy will also be able to meet others with the condition. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions to clinicians and Epilepsy Action representatives.

Seats are limited, so to book a place contact Jackie Kemp, Epilepsy Action regional services officer, on 0113 210 8800 or email jkemp@epilepsy.org.uk Tickets cost £5, with a reduced rate for concessions and Epilepsy Action members.

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. The branches hold regular meetings and offer a variety of social events, informative talks and discussions relating to epilepsy.

The meetings offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with epilepsy and also raise awareness of the condition in the local community.
