The Tunbridge Wells branch of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an information evening on 17 June 2010.
The event will take place at The Camden Centre, Market Square, Royal Tunbridge Wells, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.
Newly elected officers of the Tunbridge Wells branch will be on hand to answer questions about epilepsy. The meeting will provide an opportunity to take information away, and talk to others who may have been through similar experiences. Details of the local branch meetings will also be available.
Marie Edgar, Epilepsy Action’s regional services manager for south east England, will provide a brief overview of Epilepsy Action’s work in the south east. Marie said: “If you want to know more about epilepsy, come to the meeting. It will dispel the myths that surround epilepsy and provide the opportunity for a general discussion.”
"It would be great if people in Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas came together to support National Epilepsy Week. We hope the meeting will highlight the marvellous work of Epilepsy Action’s Tunbridge Wells branch, as well as inform on important issues affecting people with epilepsy.”
Anyone who would like to attend the meeting, or would like further information, should contact Marie Edgar on 01708 479 536 (mobile: 07801 544 520), or at medgar@epilepsy.org.uk
Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. The Tunbridge Wells branch will soon be holding regular monthly meetings at the Camden Centre and details for these meetings will be available on the night. The branch is appealing for more volunteers to help with committee activities, providing a chance for people to develop new skills with others who understand the needs of people with epilepsy.
The meetings offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with epilepsy and also raise awareness of the condition in the local community. The branch’s programme of events includes speaker evenings, fundraising, and social activities.
