Brothers Hits The High Notes For Epilepsy Action

3 October, 2008

Successful songwriter Guy Stoker and his brother acclaimed guitarist, Gavin Richardson, are reuniting after a decade to perform a charity concert in Ilfracombe in aid of Epilepsy Action.

The concert, called “I’m still standing”, will take place on October 24 2008 at the Landmark Pavilion Theatre, Ilfracombe, North Devon.

Guy says: “I have had epilepsy since I was 12 years old. I wasn’t aware of Epilepsy Action or its services until I attended a conference in Exeter last year. It really was a moving experience for me being in a room full of people who knew exactly what I was talking about and not being the only one. After that I joined Epilepsy Action’s Barnstaple support group and it has helped me enormously.”

He continues: “I have organised concerts in the past but this one is very relevant to me because of the charity we are raising for and the name of the concert sums up my story perfectly. Although I have suffered set backs in the past, I’m still standing and able to do something as big as putting on a concert. I want to show to others who suffer from epilepsy that despite having the condition you can still shine.”

The band will play an eclectic variety of music including rock ’n’ roll and songs from the shows, so will have something for everyone. The event will also include a support act, local comedy folk singer, Symon Paul.

Guy aims to raise around £1000 for Epilepsy Action. Tickets are available from the Landmark Pavilion Theatre box office or call to reserve your tickets on 01271 324242.

The money raised at the event will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action. Last year, the charity directly helped over 731,000 people through a range of services including its advice and information centre, branch network, Epilepsy Helpline freephone 0808 800 5050 and award winning website, www.epilepsy.org.uk
