The Dorchester Branch of Epilepsy Action, the UK's largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is holding a meeting to support people in the area affected by epilepsy, their families and carers.
The event will be held on Monday 20 September from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at the Dorford Centre, Dorchester Baptist Church, Bridport Road, Dorchester. The guest speaker is Dr Rupert Page, a consultant neurologist with an interest in epilepsy, and head of the Dorset Epilepsy Service at Poole Hospital. He will be talking about the management and treatment of epilepsy and there will be a question and answer session.
The newly formed Dorchester Branch has been holding regular monthly meetings since May. It has a relaxed atmosphere and numbers are increasing every month. Epilepsy specialist nurses from Dorset Epilepsy Services at Poole Hospital are frequent attendees. They answer questions and discuss a variety of issues. The Dorchester Branch meets on the third Monday of the month between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.
Mark McDaid, Epilepsy Action's regional services manager for the south west, said: “This month’s meeting is set to be really informative for people with epilepsy, or their carers, from the Dorset and Weymouth area. We are lucky to have the support of Dorset Epilepsy Services and I’m sure Dr Page will deliver a fascinating talk.”
