On Sunday May 20, Mike and Rachel Haberfield from Ferndown in Dorset will be helping Epilepsy Action to bring epilepsy “Out in the Open” by organising a local sponsored walk.
The three mile walk will take place along Bournemouth seafront and around 30 people will be taking part. Nationwide, hundreds of people will be taking part in the “Out in the Open” sponsored walks to celebrate National Epilepsy Week (20 – 26 May).
Mike says: “Members of our family have epilepsy and we have received a lot of support from Epilepsy Action in the past. The advice and information that the charity has given us has been invaluable and we feel that we would like to give something back.”
He continues:” All of our family are going to take part and the local school where our children attend is also supporting the event. We are hoping it will be a fun family day out for a great cause!”
Epilepsy Action needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible if it is to reach this year’s fundraising target of £50,000. More information can be found at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/wongawalks
The money raised will help fund vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Epilepsy Action has a network of branches across the UK and now directly helps more than 550,000 people every year.
