The Truro Branch of Epilepsy Action is hosting a free community event at Truro Community Fire Station. The aim of the event is to discuss fire safety in the home for people with epilepsy, and support anyone with an interest in the condition. It will also serve as a joint networking session between Epilepsy Action and the Fire Station. There will also be an opportunity to explore a working fire engine.

Peter Tonkin Green, manager of the fire station, will be leading the discussion on epilepsy and fire safety. Mary Parrett, epilepsy specialist nurse, will give a presentation on epilepsy awareness.

Mark McDaid, Epilepsy Action’s regional service manager for the south west, said: “The event is aimed at people with epilepsy, their family, friends and professional carers. There is something for everyone and will provide a unique opportunity to meet the local fire service and share experiences of living with epilepsy. It is possible due to the hard work and fundraising efforts carried out by the branch. There is a lot of excitement already around this event!”

Venue: Truro Community Fire Station, Station Road, Truro
