M&J Seafood Ltd have been honoured with an Epilepsy Action Gold Award for Employment for helping to improve the lives of people with epilepsy.
Epilepsy Action is running the Gold Award for Employment scheme to mark this year’s National Epilepsy Week (May 20-26). The theme for National Epilepsy Week is employment. By running the award, the charity is recognising best practice and honouring employers who show understanding and help people with epilepsy to overcome difficulties in the workplace.
M&J Seafood Ltd were nominated by their employee, Jonathan Charles, who has epilepsy. Jonathan nominated his employers as he feels that they have shown him love, support and understanding with his epilepsy.
Jonathan says: “The whole team have rallied around to help make things as easy as possible for me at work like helping with transport issues when things have been difficult. Two of my employers have had training in epilepsy so they can now recognise triggers and know what to do if I have a seizure at work.”
M&J Seafood Ltd were presented with the Epilepsy Gold Award for Employment today by Nicky Lee, chair of Epilepsy Action’s Bournemouth Branch, at a special ceremony held at M&J Seafood Ltd offices in Windmore to mark the occasion.
