Taunton school girl wins national doodling competition

17 July, 2009

A Taunton school girl has been chosen as a winner in this year's National Doodle Day competition.

Bethany Husband, 10, was one of hundreds to take part in National Doodle Day earlier this year. The fun event is held annually in aid of two charities, Epilepsy Action and the Neurofibromatosis Association. Members of the public are invited to submit doodles into the national competition.

Bethany, who attends Trull Church of England Primary School, received a brand new, top-of-the-range laptop and a certificate of recognition for her doodle. Bethany has now joined a host of celebrities in having her winning doodle displayed in the doodle Hall of Fame at www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk

Bethany said: "I love doodling. It’s relaxing and gives me a sense of freedom. When I found out about the competition, I promptly entered and I was over the moon to find out that I’d won. I think the money goes to a good cause, so I’m thrilled!"

The event, which this year included a charity auction of around 400 celebrity doodles, and a schools competition, has raised more than £185,000 over the last six years. The money raised is used to help support people affected by epilepsy and neurofibromatosis.

National Doodle Day 2010 will be held on Friday 5 March. For more information, visit. www.nationaldoodleday org.uk or call 0113 210 8800.
