Brewing Up Funds for Charity (Dudley)

15 October, 2007

Staff and pupils at Old Park School in Dudley will be putting the kettle on and joining Epilepsy Action’s fifth National Tea Break on Friday, October 19.

The school is organising its own Tea Break from 9.45am – 11.30am in the school hall and is appealing for parents, friends and neighbours to pop in and have a cuppa and some cake, to help raise vital funds for the estimated 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Lorraine Draper, a teacher from Old Park School, says: “We want to help raise money for Epilepsy Action as we have quite a few pupils who have epilepsy. The Upper Phase of the school is running our Tea Break and we will have pupil and parent helpers. We have invited families, friends, pupils and the local community. Sharing a cup of tea is a great way of increasing awareness of the condition.”

Nationwide, hundreds of people will be organising Tea Breaks. The event has been supported by TV stars and personalities, including the writer and actor Stephen Fry; comedians Bill Bailey, Victoria Wood and Jo Brand; fitness expert Rosemary Conley; and celebrity chefs Antony Worrall Thompson and Alan Coxon.

In the last four years the event has raised £60,000 and Epilepsy Action is hoping to break the £75,000 barrier this year. For more information about Tea Break, please visit www.epilepsy.org.uk/teabreak.
