Cycle Challenge For Epilepsy Action

3 October, 2008

Two friends from Chelmsley Wood are preparing for a challenging cycle ride from Wales to Birmingham to raise money for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Dan Coggins and Alan Bromley will set off on Tuesday October 14 to cycle 61.5 miles in two days, to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Dan said: “A friend of the family had epilepsy and recently passed away at just 32-years-old. I want to raise as much money as possible for Epilepsy Action and to help create awareness of a condition that is so often very poorly understood.”

He continued: “I am most looking forward to arriving back home and feeling such a sense of achievement!”

Epilepsy Action has a huge variety of fundraising events you can get involved in, whether you’re an elite athlete or a complete beginner. These events can be a fun and exciting challenge with the added bonus of making a difference to people living with epilepsy. To find out more go to http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/involved/index.html

The money raised by Dan and Alan will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Last year, Epilepsy Action directly helped over 731,000 people through a range of services including its advice and information centre, branch network, Epilepsy Helpline freephone 0808 800 5050 and award-winning website, www.epilepsy.org.uk
