Epilepsy Action Branch Member Of The Year Award

9 March, 2010

Bell Watson, stalwart of the Warwick Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

The Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award was presented to Bell by Beryl Sharlot, an Epilepsy Action trustee, at the branch’s annual general meeting on Monday 8 March at Odd Fellows Hall, 6 Clarence Terrace, Warwick Street, Leamington Spa.

Bell, a dedicated member of the Warwick branch, has been active in helping those with epilepsy through her devoted commitment to Epilepsy Action and its work.

Beryl Sharlot said: “Bell is one of the longest standing members of the branch and has been on its committee for over 25 years. She’s always there to help – from keeping the branch scrap book and dealing with branch membership to providing tea and coffee with her sister Joyce. Bell has always helped at fundraising events too, including the Victorian evening – when she often dressed in costume! She has also always helped at Kenilworth Carnival – putting the many feathers in the ‘pluck-a-duck’, which has raised a lot of money. Bell hardly ever misses a meeting and is extremely dedicated to the branch. She is so worthy of an award after her contribution of so many years, and being one of those holding the branch together.”

Bell Watson, said: “I was absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award.”

The Warwick Branch meetings are open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.  There are opportunities to access detailed information about living with the condition and to learn how to get involved in raising epilepsy awareness in the area.

If you are interested in joining the branch, please contact Beryl Sharlot on 01926 633 356 or 07759 515346.
