We exist to improve the lives
of everyone affected by epilepsy

Epilepsy Action hosts information afternoon

7 April, 2010

Epilepsy Action and its West Midlands Forum are developing a new branch to support people living with epilepsy in the Sandwell and Dudley area. A meeting will take place on Saturday 17 April, and is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.

This is the first in a series of West Midlands Forum meetings, which are supported by the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund. It will run from 1.00pm to 4.00pm at West Bromwich Community Church, Victoria Street, West Bromwich. Esther Whitten, an epilepsy specialist nurse will be speaking at the event, and there will be an opportunity for people affected by epilepsy to talk to others and contribute ideas as to how the branch could work in an informal atmosphere. Tea, coffee and information resources will be available at the meetings.

Michele Harper, secretary of Epilepsy Action’s West Midlands Forum, said: “The meetings will be an ideal opportunity for anyone who has epilepsy or an interest in the condition to find out more. They’ll not only be able to meet others in similar situations and find out what support is available locally, but also share their experiences, which we hope may lead to meeting on a regular basis. We want people to leave happy that they know they are able to find out more and realise that they are not alone."

For more information about the meetings or the new Epilepsy Action branch in Sandwell and Dudley, contact Michele on 07971 751027.

If people are unable to attend this meeting, the West Midlands Forum will be arranging further meetings between 2-4pm on 15 May, 19 June and 17 July. All meetings will be held at the same venue.

Epilepsy Action has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. Branches hold regular meetings and offer a variety of social events and informative talks and discussions relating to epilepsy. Meetings offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with epilepsy and also raise awareness of the condition in the local community.
