The Warwick District branch of Epilepsy Action is to hold a meeting on Monday 8 June, to support people affected by epilepsy in the area.
The meeting will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Odd Fellows Hall, Warwick Street, Leamington Spa and is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.
The branch will be celebrating its 28 year anniversary at the meeting. Branch member, Andy Fincham, will be presented with an award to recognise his hard work and contribution to the branch. Andy, who has epilepsy, has been an active member for almost 20 years.
Beryl Shalot, branch chairman and Epilepsy Action council member, said: “I'm delighted to be presenting Andy with an award for his contributions to the Warwick District branch of Epilepsy Action, on behalf of the charity's Council of Management.
"Andy is well respected and well liked amongst his fellow branch members. He is extremely welcoming to new members and is always willing to lend a hand. Andy is a fantastic example of how to overcome the difficulties surrounding epilepsy."
Andy said: "I am thrilled to receive this award. It’s a great feeling and has come out of the blue. I have been a member since 1992 and I'm glad to help such a tremendous cause."
Paula Taylor, an epilepsy specialist nurse who works at Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital, will also be speaking at the meeting.
