Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an epilepsy information event in Birmingham to provide support to families with an interest in the condition.
It will take place on Saturday 1 October, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Holliday Street, Birmingham, from 10.00am to 3.30pm.
The event will cover a variety of epilepsy topics, including diagnosis, treatments, and issues affecting women with epilepsy. There will also be a brief talk about Epilepsy Action and a patient perspective.
Speakers include health professionals, Dr Manny Bagary, consultant neuropsychiatrist, from Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Trust, and Gwyneth Magrath, paediatric dietician for Matthews Friends clinics.
Dr Sabine Eggers, pharmacist with Lloyds Chemists, Amanda Wood, from the School of Psychology from the University of Birmingham, and Simon Lees, Trustee of Epilepsy Bereaved will also be speaking at this event.
Helen Murray-Sharpe, national manager for local services at Epilepsy Action, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for people with epilepsy and their families to update themselves on the latest developments. There will also be an opportunity to meet other people with the condition, and to meet and talk to Epilepsy Action staff and volunteers. You can speak to epilepsy experts, and there is access to free literature about many aspects of epilepsy.”
Tickets cost £19.00 for delegates, £12.00 for members and £8 member concessions. Seats are limited so to book a place, or for further information, please contact Joanne Baker on 0113 210 8884, or email jbaker@epilepsy.org.uk
