Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is holding an information and awareness day for employers. Local business, William H Painters, is hosting as part of its epilepsy awareness month.
The event will take place on Tuesday 21 August 2012 from 10.30am until 4.00pm at William H Painter, Funeral Directors, 55 The Parade, High Street, Kings Heath, Birmingham.
Volunteers from the charity’s West Midlands Forum will be on hand all day to give information about epilepsy. There are some short films about first aid for seizures, and information packs tailored to employers will be available to take away. Light refreshments are provided.
Julie Clark, Epilepsy Action’s local services manager, said: “Everyone is welcome, whether you have epilepsy or know someone who does. However, this event is perfect for employers because you will get a brief introduction to epilepsy and some tips on how to make reasonable adjustments for employees with epilepsy.”
There is no need to book but if you have any questions, please contact Julie Clark, Epilepsy Action’s local services manager for central England, on 01684 577 554 (mobile: 07770 837 970) or at jclark@epilepsy.org.uk
Epilepsy affects one in every 103 people in the UK alone and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day. Last year Epilepsy Action directly helped over 1.1 million people through a range of services, including its Epilepsy Helpline, branch network,
specialist nurse scheme and award-winning website.
