Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an event exploring living with epilepsy through the arts.
Epilepsy and the arts will take place on Saturday 22 September from 10.30am to 4.00pm at The Point 4 Leisure Centre, Venns Lane, Hereford.
The event is open to people with epilepsy, their families and carers. There will be workshops in African drumming, dance and art-making. Artists with epilepsy will display their work and are available to chat to. Volunteers from Epilepsy Action’s West Midlands Forum will staff an epilepsy advice and information stand, and literature can be taken away.
Julie Clark, local services manager for central England, said: “The idea behind this event is to give people with epilepsy and their families, friends and carers opportunities to try different ways to express what it is like to live with the condition. The arts give us the freedom to express ourselves beyond words. There is nothing to get wrong – the dance and art sessions are particularly about free creative expression – you are not told what to do or how to do it. This can be very liberating, as well as a lot of fun!”
