Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is launching a coffee and chat group for people with epilepsy in Solihull.
To launch the new group, an information day will be held on Saturday 8 September, from 10.30am to 4.00pm, at the Longdon Room, Solihull Library, Homer Road, Solihull.
Julie Clark, Epilepsy Action’s local services manager, said: “Meeting together over a cuppa to share experiences is something that is a great support to many people living with epilepsy. It can make a big difference to meet other people who understand where you are coming from and be accepted and understood. Everyone is welcome, whether you have epilepsy or know someone who does.”
This event will feature DVDs to watch on different aspects of the condition. Staff and volunteers will be available to give information about epilepsy. People will also be able to take Epilepsy Action’s advice and information leaflets away.
After the launch event, the new coffee and chat group will meet monthly from 2.00pm until 4.00pm on Saturday 13 October, 10 November, and 8 December.
If you have any questions, please contact Julie Clark, Epilepsy Action’s local services manager for central England, on 01684 577 554 (mobile: 07770 837 970) or at jclark@epilepsy.org.uk
The coffee and chat group is launched as Epilepsy Action’s Solihull Branch closes after 30 successful years. Dedicated branch officers and volunteers have supported the Solihull Branch and will now be involved with the new coffee and chat group.
Epilepsy Action’s Birmingham coffee and chat group meets from 2.00pm until 4.00pm on the third Saturday of every month at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square, Birmingham.
Epilepsy affects one in every 100 people in the UK alone and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day. Last year Epilepsy Action directly helped over 1.1 million people through a range of services, including its Epilepsy Helpline, branch network, specialist nurse scheme and award-winning website.
