Lloyds Pharmacy supports Epilepsy Action in Stoke-on-Trent

1 August, 2011

The Stoke-on-Trent Branch of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting an information day on Wednesday 10 August 2011.

The event will take place at Lloyds Pharmacy (next to the Britannia Building Society), 117-119 High Street, Wolstanton, Stoke-on-Trent. An information stand will be available in the pharmacy from 10.00am until 2.00pm. The event is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.

There will be an opportunity to take away epilepsy information on a range of subjects, and talk to people who have had similar experiences. Lloyds Pharmacy has also agreed to pass Epilepsy Action leaflets to epilepsy patients who collect their epilepsy medication from the pharmacy.

Dr Sabine Eggers, pharmacist, met branch members recently when she did a talk at their July meeting. Dr Eggers said: “I believe that community pharmacies have a role to play in highlighting the work done by voluntary bodies in promoting healthcare within the community. I am more than happy to provide a platform to highlight the work done by Epilepsy Action. I hope that this event encourages people with epilepsy and their families to make contact.”

John, chair of Epilepsy Action’s Stoke-on-Trent Branch, said: “This is a great opportunity to find out more about epilepsy in a friendly and informal environment. It is targeted at people with epilepsy, their families, friends or carers. The key to living with epilepsy successfully is information. Come along and find out what help there is out there for you.”

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. The Stoke-on-Trent Branch holds regular monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at The Dudson Centre, Hope Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, from 7.00pm.

The branch’s programme of events includes speaker evenings, fundraising, social activities, and awareness raising events.
