Oldbury Park Primary School Doodle Their Way To Success (Worcester)

19 July, 2007

Pupils at Oldbury Park Primary School in Worcester have been named winners of the South West Primary School category in this year’s National Doodle Day competition.

National Doodle Day took place earlier this year in aid of Epilepsy Action and the Neurofibromatosis Association. Members of the public were invited to submit doodles into a national competition. The judging of the various categories was carried out by actor, author and Doodle Day Patron, Maureen Lipman. The work of all the winners is displayed in the Hall of Fame at www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk

The school was presented with a number of learning aids kindly donated by Vtech; including a V Smile Pocket and a Spongebob Learning Game. The presentation was made by Alison Jackson, an accredited volunteer for Epilepsy Action, at a recent school assembly.

Louise Bourne and Teresa Marks, teachers from Oldbury Park Primary School said: “We decided to take part in National Doodle Day following the arrival of a new child in reception who has epilepsy. The children really enjoyed working together to raise awareness and create their own doodles.”

The event, which included a charity auction of almost 300 celebrity doodles, has raised more than £120,000 for the two charities over the last four years.
