Warwick man takes on marathon challenge for epilepsy charity

30 March, 2010

A Warwick man is taking part in the Brighton Marathon to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity. Clive Tugwood is taking part in memory of his 10 year-old goddaughter, Merryn, who died from sudden unexplained death in epilepsy in 2009.

Clive, 44, will be joining thousands to attempt the challenging 26.2 mile run on Sunday 18 April. The route around the city and along the coast will be generally fast and reasonably flat.

Merryn’s family have set up an Epilepsy Action Sunflower Tribute Fund in memory of Merryn to help support the charity. Clive said: “The money I raise will be added to Merryn’s Sunflower Fund to help Epilepsy Action with its ongoing programme of education and awareness.

“I am running within a team of eight called ‘Team 4M’ which includes Merryn’s parents. I am looking forward to raising as much as I can and supporting my best friend, Merryn’s father. We’re both hoping to achieve a time of less than four hours.”

Clive hopes to raise £400 to add to Merryn’s Epilepsy Action Sunflower Tribute Fund.
