Wolverhampton man goes the extra mile for epilepsy charity

11 May, 2010

A Wolverhampton man, who has epilepsy, is taking part in the Bupa London 10,000. Craig Wright will be raising vital funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Craig, 37, is taking part as a personal challenge and to show that people with epilepsy can still take part. Craig will join others to attempt the challenging 10k run on Monday 31 May. The race starts and finishes at St. James Park and passes many famous London landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

Craig said: “I did the Ben Nevis challenge for Epilepsy Action last May and really enjoyed it so decided this should be my next challenge. I’m aiming to do one challenge every year to help raise awareness. I wanted to take part to show that it’s still possible with epilepsy and to prove to my son that his old man’s not over the hill yet!   I really hope that I can raise lots of money to help other people and their families and carers, who are affected by epilepsy.”

Craig hopes to raise £500 to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK. The money raised by Craig will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action.

Registration for the Bupa London 10,000 is now closed. Epilepsy Action still has places available in the Royal Parks Half Marathon and the Bupa Great South Run in October.
