People across Yorkshire are being given the opportunity to work off all those Christmas calories on Sunday 29 March, by taking part in Epilepsy Action's Bradford 10K run.
Hundreds will be taking to the city's streets for this year's road race, helping to raise vital funds in support of the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK. The event is back by popular demand following its astounding success last year. As Bradford's first ever 10K, the race attracted more than 500 runners and raised over £12,000 for people living with this often overlooked condition.
Organised with the support of Bradford Council's B-active campaign and Airedale Athletics, the race will start and finish at the stunning Centenary Square in Bradford City Centre. Flat and fast, the route is great for first-timers just wanting to 'have a go' as well as elite runners aiming to achieve their personal best times. This makes it a run that anyone can try their hand at.
Philippa Corner, Epilepsy Action's fundraising events manager, said: "We were overwhelmed by the popularity of last year's race, but judging by the interest we've had so far, this year's is set to be massive! We're already expecting around a thousand entrants, and this means the spaces are limited, so anyone wanting to take part should hurry to secure their place!"
Fantastic prizes will be awarded for male and female first, second and third as well as veterans. There'll be free T-shirts for all runners and refreshments will be available on the day. For those wishing to join in but feel they need practice beforehand, training clinics and year-round running support is provided by Airedale Athletics.
Philippa adds: "Now a permanent fixture on the city's events calendar, the Bradford 10K is a run the city can be proud of. It's a great way to get fit in the New Year, while also raising money for such a worthy cause. So, get your running shoes on and join in the fun!"
