Get “Out In The Open” For Charity (Doncaster)

4 May, 2007

On Sunday May 20, Irene Beevers from Doncaster will be helping Epilepsy Action to bring epilepsy “Out in the Open” by organising a local sponsored walk.

The walk will start at 2pm and will take place around the new Doncaster Lakeside starting at the new Keep Moat Stadium. Nationwide, hundreds of people will be taking part in “Out in the Open” sponsored walks to celebrate National Epilepsy Week (20 – 26 May).

Irene says: “I am chair of the Doncaster Epilepsy Action branch and we have held a walk each year to help raise funds for the branch. I have epilepsy myself and think that it is a condition which a lot of people still don’t understand, so we hope that the walk will help to build awareness.”

She continues: “People of all ages are taking part, along with several families so it should be a fun day for all!”

Epilepsy Action needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible if it is to reach this year’s fundraising target of £50,000. More information can be found at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/wongawalks

The money raised will help fund vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Epilepsy Action has a network of branches across the UK and now directly helps more than 550,000 people every year.
