On Sunday May 20, Amanda Stoneman from Bingley will be helping Epilepsy Action to bring epilepsy “Out in the Open” by organising a local sponsored walk.
The walk will start at 10am and will take place around Swinsty Reservoir near Otley, starting at the Swinsty Moor car park. Nationwide, hundreds of people will be taking part in “Out in the Open” sponsored walks to celebrate National Epilepsy Week (20 – 26 May).
Amanda says: “I am an adviser on the Epilepsy Helpline and I have held a walk each year to help raise funds for Epilepsy Action. Epilepsy is a condition which a lot of people still don’t understand, so I also hope that the walk will help to build awareness.”
She continues: “The three mile walk around the reservoir is quite easy and suitable for people of all ages. Children and dogs are welcome, so it should be a fun day for all!”
If you would like to join the walk, please contact Kirsty at Epilepsy Action for more details on 0113 210 8800. Alternatively, join the walkers at Swinsty Moor car park before 10am on Sunday.
Epilepsy Action needs to recruit as many walkers and walk organisers as possible if it is to reach this year’s fundraising target of £50,000. More information can be found at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/wongawalks
The money raised will help fund vital advice and information services provided by the charity. Epilepsy Action has a network of branches across the UK and now directly helps more than 550,000 people every year.
