Hull woman walks her way to charity ‘wonga’

22 October, 2010

A Hull woman, who believes she developed epilepsy after drinking alcohol excessively, is preparing to raise serious ‘wonga’ for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Natasha Colley has organised an 18-mile Epilepsy Action Wonga Walk from Sutton to Hornsea, at 9.00am on Sunday 30 October. Natasha will be walking with her family and two four-legged friends, dogs Chance and Raynor, but says anyone is welcome to join them.

Natasha, who is 23 and lives in Preston, said: “I developed epilepsy when I was 18 and I think it was because of drinking too much alcohol. I hope by organising this walk, I will be able to raise awareness and understanding of epilepsy. I’m really looking forward to raising as much as money as I can for Epilepsy Action and hope I can make a real difference to the lives of others affected by epilepsy.”

The walk is one of several Wonga Walks taking place across the country to celebrate Epilepsy Action’s sixtieth anniversary. The charity is hoping the walks will clock up a total distance of 9,240 miles – equivalent to walking to Timbuktu and back. The money raised by the Wonga Walks will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action.

To join Natasha’s Wonga Walk call her on 01482 896 604. Natasha is also happy for anyone with epilepsy, who wants to talk to someone who has had similar experiences, to contact her.
