MP attends Epilepsy Action meeting in York

25 April, 2008

The Labour MP for York is to attend an Epilepsy Action branch meeting on Friday May 9 at Council Chambers, The Guildhall, Coney Street, York.

Hugh Bayley MP, member of All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Epilepsy, will attend the meeting to discuss issues concerning people living with epilepsy in the region. The meeting will give people affected by epilepsy the opportunity to raise concerns and ask questions relating to the condition and health services.

Andrew Kent, branch secretary of the York branch said: "Hugh will be talking about the 'Wasted Money, Wasted Lives' report on epilepsy services, published by the APPG on Epilepsy in June last year.”

Andrew added: "We are hoping this will be a very useful exchange of information, allowing attendees to understand how parliament works and Hugh to learn more about how epilepsy affects people in the area."

The Epilepsy Action York branch meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm at Friends Meeting House, Friargate, York. Anyone who is interested in attending the meeting, or who would like further information about the York, branch should call Andrew Kent on 01904 760171.

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, has an extensive network of branches throughout the UK. The branches hold regular meetings and offer a variety of social events and informative talks and discussions relating to epilepsy. The meetings also offer the opportunity for people to share their experiences of living with the condition and raise awareness of epilepsy in the local community.
