The Harrogate Branch of national charity, Epilepsy Action, is holding a conference on Saturday 5 September to support people with epilepsy.
The conference will take place at the Majestic Hotel, Ripon Road, Harrogate, from 9.30am to 4.00pm. The conference will provide an opportunity for people with epilepsy and their families to update themselves on the latest developments. It will also provide an opportunity to meet other people with the condition, and to meet Epilepsy Action staff and branch members. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and there is access to free literature about many aspects of epilepsy.
The event will cover a range of topics including epilepsy services, diagnosing epilepsy, epilepsy specialist nurses and transition services for young people with epilepsy. The key-note speaker will be Dr Peter Goulding, a consultant neurologist at Leeds General Infirmary. Dr Goulding will speak about diagnosing epilepsy in his presentation. Others speakers at the annual event, include epilepsy specialist nurses Lizzie Wright and Jo Geldard, and neurology registrar, Dr Claire Johnston.
Carl Donnelly, chair of the Harrogate Branch of Epilepsy Action, said: "We are delighted that we have secured such fantastic speakers at this year's conference. The presentations will cover a wide variety of issues affecting people with epilepsy, meaning the event will be of interest to anyone affected by the condition.
"It would be fantastic if people in Harrogate and the surrounding areas came together to support this event. We hope the conference will highlight the fantastic work of Epilepsy Action’s Harrogate Branch, as well as inform on important issues affecting people living with epilepsy.”
