A Todmorden events company is hosting a charity fashion show to raise funds for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.
Royle Events will host a wedding-themed ‘Real Runways’ fashion show and after-party from 7.30pm on Friday 20 May at Border Rooms, Venue Nightclub in Todmodern. The event will also act as the official launch of Royle Events, an events company set up in November 2010 by Jo Royle.
Jo, 35, has chosen to organise the event as her friend’s son has epilepsy and has regular seizures. She hopes the event will raise funds and awareness about epilepsy, a condition which is often overlooked and misunderstood.
Huddersfield designers Adam Shaw and Marie Flanagan will headline the fashion show. Good Golly Miss Molly Bespoke Hats and Sidnie Co Couture, both based in Manchester, and six local fashion retails shops will also showcase their designs.
Guests will receive a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival, as well as goody bags and the chance to win a £400 civil marriage ceremony donated by Ceremony North West. The after-show party will feature five live local DJs.
Jo said: “Epilepsy affects a local family and I hope this event raises awareness locally of the condition and the difficulties families affected by epilepsy can face.
“The ‘Real Runways’ fashion show will incorporate real men and women of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and different sizes ranging from 6 – 24, meaning there will be something for everyone. There will also be an official speaker from Epilepsy Action explaining what the charity does and how it helps people with epilepsy.
“I hope people in Todmorden will really get behind the event so we can raise as much as possible for Epilepsy Action.”
Jo hopes the event will raise over £2,000, to help support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK. The money raised will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by Epilepsy Action.
Tickets are £7.00 and all money raised at this event will go directly to Epilepsy Action. Tickets are now on sale at Halo Boutique and Enchanting Wood, Todmorden, Sage & Onion, Hebden Bridge, To Die For, Halifax and Pop Up Boutique, Barton Arcade, Manchester.
