Postgraduate Research Bursaries 2005-2006
Parenting children with epilepsy
Rachael Nuttycombe
University of Hull and is studying for a doctorate in clinical psychology.
This research is investigating what it’s like to look after children who have epilepsy. Past studies have suggested that it can be stressful for parents but no research has looked at how it affects day-to-day parenting activities, such as the emotional support parents give their children.
It is hoped that this information will be used to improve services for children with epilepsy and their parents. To gather this information ten interviews will take place with parents from the Hull area and questionnaires have been sent to parents known to Epilepsy Action nationwide.
