We exist to improve the lives
of everyone affected by epilepsy

The UK Epilepsy Research Network

The UK Epilepsy Research Network (UKERN) was established in 2009 by epilepsy researchers across the UK. The main aims of UKERN are:

  • to improve care of people with epilepsy in the UK
  • to improve the coordination of epilepsy research in the UK
  • to maintain and enhance the quality of epilepsy research in the UK
  • to facilitate collaboration between epilepsy research centres, particularly in large-scale studies
  • to widen participation in epilepsy research in the UK

Epilepsy Action, as a representative of the Joint Epilepsy Council, is a member of UKERN’s Management Group. We are contributing to the development of Patient and Public Involvement in research (PPI) with UKERN. We were closely involved in the recruitment and training of non-clinical representatives to the Clinical Study Groups.

UKERN Forum 2012

The forum provides an opportunity for researchers to present planned studies and receive feedback. Researchers also present recently funded projects. This demonstrates recent successes and encourages collaboration.

This year’s forum will be held on Thursday 21 June in Birmingham. If you are interested in presenting or attending, contact Delphine Van De Pauw (Delphine@eruk.org.uk)
