Epilepsy12

Epilepsy12 was the first national audit to specifically look at epilepsy services provided for children and young people in hospitals and community clinic in the UK.

It measured the quality of care by examining how epilepsy services performed against 12 good practice measures. The audit highlighted areas where individual epilepsy services could be improved. Using this information, services are identifying where more resources are needed and areas where improvements can be made to the epilepsy care they provide.

The audit will be repeated in 2013 to measure if services have improved. The Epilepsy 12 audit group want to set standards defining how often each good practice indicator should be achieved by a reasonably performing service. An excellent service would achieve the standard most of the time and a poor service would frequently fail to achieve several of the standards. This survey exercise will help to agree reasonable performance all services should be able to consistently achieve.

Epilepsy12 would like to have the views of parents and young people with epilepsy on what level of service is necessary to meet these 12 good practice measures. Parents and young people taking part will complete a series of short online questionnaires. You will be asked to complete up to three questionnaires during September and October 2012.
