Epilepsy and intellectual disabilities

People with epilepsy and intellectual disability (ID) and their families may be affected by complicated medical and social problems. They may have problems accessing appropriate support for their health and social needs.

Researchers at Cardiff University are carrying out a study on the experiences of those who provide support for people with intellectual disability who have epilepsy.

If you:

  • work with people with epilepsy and intellectual disability,
  • care for someone with epilepsy and intellectual disability, or
  • have a family member who has epilepsy and intellectual disability;

 then the researchers would like to hear your views.

The survey will ask questions about issues around medication, access to appropriate clinical supports and the impact of epilepsy on quality of life.

This is an international study, so you can take part wherever you live. The research is being supported by Brainwave and the International Bureau for Epilepsy.
