During the last few years there has been an increase in the number of anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) available. However, there is uncertainty about which AED is the most effective, has the least side-effects and is the most suitable for a particular patient.
Supported by a research grant from Epilepsy Action, Dr Udo Wieshmann and a team from The Walton Centre in Liverpool have set up a register to gather this information. Dr Wieshmann tells us that the information the register provides will help guide and improve the medical treatment of epilepsy.
If you are taking anti-epileptic medication then Dr Wieshmann would like you to take part. You will be asked to complete a simple one page questionnaire where people with epilepsy can list your AEDs and any side-effects you may experience. The questionnaire is anonymous.
For more information go to the Walton Centre website
If you would like to receive a paper copy of the questionnaire, please telephone 0151 529 5652.
In order to continue this important work, we need your help. Find out how you can make a regular or single donation to support research at Epilepsy Action
