Epilepsy Helpline and language interpreting

(UK residents only)

Telephone Helpline

If you, or your family and friends, have epilepsy and you need advice and information in languages other than English, you can do this by using our language service.

The Epilepsy Helpline is able to offer you advice and information in 150 languages.

How does it work?

You can call the Epilepsy Helpline – 0808 800 5050 – open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Fridays. Your call will be answered by an operator (a trained advice and information services officer). You will need to tell the operator which language you need. If you are unable to do this in English, you can ask someone to make the call for you.

The operator will ask you for your name and which language you need.
You should stay on the line while the operator gets an interpreter to join the call. This will take a minute or two.

You can then talk, through the interpreter, to the operator, receiving instant advice and information on epilepsy.

What about quality?

All interpreters are highly qualified in their field. Their professionalism means that they will interpret exactly what is said.

What about confidentiality?

All interpreters sign confidentiality agreements. In addition, the Epilepsy Helpline is a totally confidential service.

This service is currently only available to UK residents.
