Council of Management meeting - December 2012

The Council of Management met in December for its final meeting of the year. The main item on the agenda was consideration of the draft revenue budget for next year. After much deliberation, Council decided to continue with its policy established last year to invest in the charity’s fundraising capacity and to maintain services.

The consequence of this is that there is a predicted revenue deficit on the charity’s main General Fund of £567,992 in 2013. This is a very large sum. However Council expressed confidence that estimates for 2014 and 2015 showed the size of the annual deficit would firstly decline in 2014 and then become a surplus by the end of 2015. Council was also minded that the charity has unrestricted reserves within its General Fund of £2.1 million and it can therefore comfortably support this plan.

Council also approved ten nominations for the first of the new Epilepsy Action Volunteer Awards. Included within these was the award of branch of the year which for 2012 has been awarded to the Cornwall branch.

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled to take place on 5 February 2013.
