The new Council of Management met on 10 July and welcomed Etienne Dutoy, one of the newly elected members. Sarah Lawson, the other newly elected member, will attend her first meeting in October.
Council elected Ian Walker for a third consecutive year as its Chair. Richard Chapman was elected for a second consecutive year as Council’s vice Chair and Jane Riley was elected for a third consecutive year as the Association’s Honorary Treasurer. Council also confirmed the membership of the following Committees:
Finance and Strategic Policy Committee – Gavin Barlow, Jayne Burton, June Massey, Mike Harnor, Stephen Timewell, Ian Walker, Richard Chapman and Jane Riley.
Corporate Governance Committee - Jayne Burton, June Massey, Jane Riley, Ian Walker and Ellie Wilmshurst.
Members considered the financial performance of the charity in the first six months of 2018. They were pleased to note that this was within tolerance levels and that no adjustments were required to plans for the remainder of the year.
Jayne Burton, Council’s diversity champion, presented a report at the conclusion of her second year in the role. Council agreed that the role should continue and Ellie Wilmshurst was elected to serve for the next 12 months after Jayne Burton decided to stand down. A report was also received from Jim Morrow about his first six months as Council’s champion for research. This role was also confirmed to continue for a further 12 months with Jim continuing.
Council considered the outcomes of its performance self-appraisal and the outcomes of the personal annual reviews of Council members.
The next meeting of the Council of Management will be on 2 October 2018.
