Council of Management meeting - October 2019

The Council of Management met on 8 October. It began its deliberations about the 2020 revenue budget and business plan. It agreed some guidance for staff to help them in preparing the early drafts. The final drafts will be reviewed by Council at its December meeting. Council approved a raft of revised policies for the organisation following a recent review to make sure these are up to date. The policies included: Environment, Equality and managing conflicts of interest. Council elected Ellie Wilmshurst to the Finance & Strategic Policy Committee; Beryl Sharlot and Torie Robinson to the Staff Appeals panel and Diane Hockley and Ellie Wilmshurst to the Corporate Governance Committee. Council also considered and approved the winners of the Epilepsy Action Awards for 2019. Every quarter the Council reviews the top ten risks the charity is exposed to. Part of the review includes a more detailed examination of one of the risks. This time, Council chose to explore the potential risk and consequences of a failure of one or more of its top income sources. The next meeting of the Council of Management will be on 3 December 2019.
