Fundraising Manager, Philippa Cartwright
Philippa is responsible for the team that manages all aspects of Epilepsy Action’s fundraising, as well as developing membership services. Over 90 per cent of Epilepsy Action’s income comes from voluntary sources. As well as raising money for our work, the many events run by the team help to raise awareness of epilepsy and Epilepsy Action. The work is broken down into the following areas:
Our fundraising events range from pub quizzes to bed pushes to Out in the Open Walks, National Tea Break and National Doodle Day, to more active events like the Ben Nevis Challenge, West Highland Way, overseas challenges, London Marathon, Great North Run and much, much more!
Businesses support us through one-off cash donations, sponsorship, payroll giving and corporate events.
Encouraging existing and new supporters to donate money to fund our work. Current activities include our door to door and Home Money Box campaigns which aim to recruit new, long term supporters.
Promoting the importance of legacy income to Epilepsy Action and the importance to individuals of making a will, as well as administrating bequests left to us to ensure the deceased’s wishes are fulfilled.
Promoting the work of Epilepsy Action to encourage increased membership and increased involvement of existing members.
Making applications to charitable trusts and funds such as BBC Children in Need, the Big Lottery Fund and government funds.
We run two raffles each year that raise significant funds to support our work, as well as offering the chance to win some fantastic prizes!
Activities include our wonderful Christmas Catalogue, card designs sold through Cards for Good Causes shops, general trading activities and affinity deals, where we work with commercial companies like Tesco, Apple and Amazon.co.uk
