Did you know that 87 people are diagnosed with epilepsy every day in the UK? This year’s National Epilepsy Week will run from 18-24 May and we’ll be focusing on diagnosis.
We’ll be asking what it’s really like to be diagnosed with epilepsy and letting you know what support is available. We will also be raising awareness of epilepsy as much as we can during the week.
We will be posting regular updates about our plans for National Epilepsy Week here. Here are a few things you can do to support the week right now:
We’ve created a special National Epilepsy Week poster for you to print out. Please take one to your local hospital, GP surgery or other public place and ask to put it up to help us raise awareness of epilepsy. To request hard copies, call us on 0113 210 8870 or email email@example.com
Our chief executive Phil Lee will be answering your questions during National Epilepsy Week. If you’ve always had a burning question to ask about epilepsy or the work we do at Epilepsy Action, now’s your chance!
You can ask anything you like - as long as it relates to our work. It could be a question about our latest campaigns, our thoughts on key issues affecting people with epilepsy such as benefits or health services, or simply what we’re doing in your area. Phil will respond to as many questions as he can.
To send us your question, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or write to us at Ask Phil, Press Office, Epilepsy Action, New Anstey House, Gate Way Drive, Yeadon, Leeds, LS19 7XY
Share your story
If you are based in the UK and have a story to tell about being diagnosed with epilepsy we’d love to hear from you. Your stories will be used to help us raise awareness of epilepsy in the media during National Epilepsy Week.
Maybe you were diagnosed with epilepsy after several years or have found that your diagnosis has had a huge impact on your life. Or perhaps you’re feeling well and want to tell others that being diagnosed with epilepsy doesn’t have to hold you back. Whatever your story or thoughts, we’d love to hear from you.
To take part and share your story, please complete our media volunteer form. A member of our press team will then be in touch.
You can support people living with, and caring for, people with epilepsy. Make a donation online now and share the link with your friends. Or, if you're in the UK, text NEWW55 £3 to 70070 to donate £3 to help us smash our fundraising target of £2014 during National Epilepsy Week 2014.
